Rita had a little help from her 5-month-old puppy, Sedona, who got hold of the tube of red acrylic paint!

Cheryl Pilling, Lady of Charity, returns again this year with a sweet chair she calls "Butterfly Bouquet." The pale yellow background sets off the lovely bevy of butterflies that are attracted to the periwinkle-blue Morning Glories. A blossom also appears on the back of the chair. Cheryl used "Tatouage," a dry-rub transfer that gives the artwork a beautiful, hand-painted look.

Sandra Morgan, Lady of Charity, bought this "Purrrr-fect" chair in 2008. The artist who created it is Nora Florez. Sandra has future plans to move to another city and she thought folks would like to bid on this cat-razy chair again. The kitty's face is on the front and its big, fluffy tail is painted on the back. Gems and jewels make this chair sparkle and shine. Signed by the artist, this chair is one-of-a-kind!

Please join the Ladies of Charity (LOC) on Saturday, April 2, 2011 for our 4th Annual Chairs for Charity Auction and Pass-Along Plants Sale from 9 a.m. to noon at Sacred Heart Cancer Center, corner of Airport Boulevard and College Parkway. Half of funds raised will go to Sacred Heart Cancer Services and the remainder will be used by the LOC for outreach projects.

Once again, Marty Stanovich will serve as our volunteer auctioneer and he's ready to stir up some trouble and get some of those fun bidding wars going again! Door prizes will be given away as part of the festivities.

If you would like to paint/decorate a chair, or if you would like to donate a chair you no longer need for someone else to paint, please contact Leslie Lacoy at 416-7116.

2011 4th Annual Brenda Shea Chair Hunt!

The 4th Annual Brenda Shea Chair Hunt was a success! Brenda found a leopard-print chair at Mixon's on "T" Street, and several of the Ladies of Charity members also found chairs to paint and decorate that day. Then we all enjoyed lunch at Cactus Flower!

Each year, Brenda and friends go in search of a chair that Brenda doesn't have to do anything to since she says she's "not creative."

You'll be yelling "Bunco!" when you have a seat in this chair. Paula Armes' decorated it in the spirit of the Bunco game, the ladies' card game that is so popular in our area. Paula works in Environmental Services at Sacred Heart.

This chair's former life was as a child's potty chair. Now it's home to bird's nest! It made its debut at last year's Chairs for Charity event and was purchased by Julie Perez, a member of the Ladies of Charity. She has donated it to this year's event.
